Biography

Iason Liossatos (1996) is a Greek bass-baritone and a member of the Meisterklasse programme at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, where he studies with Prof. Brigitte Wohlfarth. He has been studying in Leipzig since 2023 and is scheduled to complete his Meisterklasse in July 2027. He previously completed his Bachelor's degree at the Dresden University of Music, having begun his vocal studies at the Richard Wagner Conservatory in Vienna in 2015.

In the 2026/2027 season, Iason Liossatos makes his debut at Oper Leipzig as Sciarrone in Puccini's Tosca. His recent engagements include Figaro in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Wetzlarer Festspiele, as well as Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen at Leipzig's Gewandhaus and the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg. He has also appeared as Pinellino in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi at Theater Kiel. In 2027, he will perform Papageno in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Dresdner Residenz Orchester.

His artistic work encompasses both opera and concert repertoire. His roles include Figaro, Papageno, Don Alfonso, Leporello, Don Pasquale and Escamillo, while his concert repertoire includes works such as Bach's St John Passion and Christmas Oratorio.

Iason Liossatos was awarded Third Prize at the New York International Competition (online). He has further received artistic inspiration through masterclasses and scholarships, including at the Lotte Lehmann Akademie, where he worked with the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra.

The son of a concert pianist, he grew up in a strongly musical environment. His international background is reflected in his linguistic versatility: he is fluent in German, English, French and Greek, and has a good command of Italian.
